Waks had been invited to speak at a conference on international relations practices at Cheikh Anta Diop University (UCAD), the country’s largest and most prominent institution of higher education.
However, when he arrived, dozens of students gathered outside the hall and chanted “Free Palestine”, “Free Gaza”, and “Israel is a War Criminal.”
A video shared online shows students booing a newly appointed envoy waving a Palestinian flag and preventing him from delivering a speech.
Waks was escorted by security and left campus without speaking to the audience. The protesters continued to follow him, yelling slogans and waving flags as he left.
Wack, a non-resident ambassador to Israel, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Cape Verde and Chad, presented his qualification to Senegal’s President Basilou Diomai Fey on May 8th.
