Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that wildfires spreading rapidly near QUDS could reach the city. The Guardian reported.
Heavy smoke erupted on the highway near Quds Wednesday as firefighters urged the troops to hurry up and support the wildfires that have injured several people.
Israel’s Magen David Adom (MDA) Rescue Agency reported that hundreds of civilians were at risk from the worst fires of many years.
Netanyahu warned that “the Western winds can easily push fires towards the outskirts of (Quds) and even towards the city itself.”
Police closed the main QUDS-TEL Aviv Highway and evacuated residents along the route as brushfires re-erupted in an area that had been destroyed by the flames a week ago. The community, which houses thousands of people, is being cleaned up.
Israeli media reported that a community, located about 30km (19 miles) west of QUD, has been evacuated and aired images of fire teams fighting the fierce flames.
