TEHRAN – Israeli forces on Friday escalated a deadly offensive against Jenin in the occupied West Bank, extending the ongoing incursion into its fourth consecutive day.
Armed clashes broke out between Palestinian resistance fighters and the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) in the town of Kabatiyah, more than 10 kilometers south of the city of Jenin.
Explosions shook the town on Friday amid heavy drone activity in the area, residents said.
According to reports, IOF surrounded Kabatiyah’s house and fired Energa shells as troops raided nearby homes.
IOF has deployed additional reinforcements to Kabatiyah, accompanied by Apache helicopters.
Occupation forces have turned the area around the refugee camp adjacent to the city of Jenin into a launching pad for attacks on the town of Kabatiyah and the town of Yabad, 20 km west of Jenin.
According to Al Jazeera, IOF later withdrew from Kabatiyah after destroying the town’s main roundabout.
Meanwhile, reporters on the ground reported that IOF bulldozers began destroying infrastructure at the entrance to the town of Al Yamon, northwest of Jenin.
On Friday morning, Israeli forces launched raids across the occupied West Bank, arresting Palestinians during clashes in several areas.
Israeli forces have also tightened their siege on the city of Jenin and its refugee camp after destroying many homes.
Hundreds of Palestinians have been forced to flee the flashpoint city amid Israeli military attacks that have seen hospitals under siege and homes fired indiscriminately.
Analysts say the Israeli military operation in Jenin is the largest and most aggressive operation to date, with occupation forces dismantling Palestinian resistance in the city and opening up refugee camps in the center. It emphasizes that it intends to achieve its goal of annihilating the world.
Experts say the presence of outgoing Israeli army chief of staff Helj Halevi and Shin Bet leader Ronen Barr during Thursday’s raid on the camp was a calculated move as part of the regime’s public relations efforts. I am doing it.
Anti-war critics say the ongoing developments in Jenin reflect a deliberate effort by the occupation regime to compensate for its repeated failures in the Gaza Strip and are aimed at reasserting its control. This suggests that this represents a shift in strategy.
Whether this will be successful is subject to wider debate, given the failure to eliminate Hamas after more than 15 months of genocidal war in Gaza.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu faces the difficult task of calming many of his cabinet members furious over the Gaza ceasefire, many of whom see it as a humiliating concession to Hamas and a sign of weakness. There is.
Palestinian resistance fighters are in a violent confrontation with Israeli occupiers in Jenin. Fierce clashes broke out between resistance forces and Israeli army infantry on Friday, lasting several hours along two main thoroughfares in the heart of the city’s refugee camps.
The leader of the Al-Quds Brigades in the West Bank highlighted what the resistance movement reveals. “At the end of the battle, we will prove that the images of victory that the enemy was unable to achieve in Gaza cannot be achieved in the West Bank.”
“Since the beginning of the Israeli invasion of Jenin, our heroes have continued to ambush the occupation forces and their military vehicles,” he said.
Meanwhile, the United Nations Office for Rights has expressed deep concern over the illegal use of lethal force in Jenin, highlighting the alarming escalation in violence and the devastating impact on civilians.
The IOF invasion, which began on Tuesday, claimed at least 12 lives, including a 65-year-old man, and injured dozens, including emergency workers. Additionally, numerous Palestinians have been arrested amid ongoing indiscriminate violence.
The Israeli occupation also set up 898 military checkpoints, suffocating the entire West Bank, in parallel with the sabotage in Jenin.
