According to regional media, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the military to carry out a “strong” offensive in Gaza, citing a statement from his official residence.
This comes after Prime Minister Netanyahu claimed that Hamas had committed a “clear violation” of the ceasefire agreement. Meanwhile, the Gaza government media office accused Israel of committing 125 ceasefire violations, including the killing of 94 Palestinians, since the ceasefire went into effect on October 10.
Shortly after this order, Al Jazeera reported that the Israeli military launched a series of airstrikes on Gaza City after threatening a “strong” attack.
Al Jazeera reported a spate of gunfire and explosions from the city of Rafah and later Khan Yunis.
Earlier, UN Special Rapporteur on the Occupied Palestinian Territories Francesca Albanese said that despite a three-week ceasefire, Israel continues to kill, starve, seriously injure and displace Gaza residents.
