Israeli forces launched a major arrest operation in the occupied West Bank on Sunday after illegal settlers attacked foreign activists and Palestinians, Anadolu news agency reported, citing local sources.
Three Italian activists and a Canadian activist were injured by Israeli illegal settlers in the village of Ain ad Duyuk in Jericho, central West Bank, local sources said.
The activists were hospitalized, three with moderate injuries and a fourth with serious injuries.
Illegal settlers attacked and assaulted the homes of Bedouin communities where foreign activists had been living for several days in solidarity with Palestinian residents.
In addition to property, the attackers also tried to steal the activists’ passports, mobile phones and belongings from the house, officials said.
According to the official Colonization and Wall Resistance Committee, illegal Israeli settlers carried out 766 attacks against Palestinians and their property in the occupied West Bank in October alone.
Meanwhile, Israeli forces detained four people in two villages in Nablus on Sunday. State news agency Wafa News reported that one of the detainees was injured, but gave no details about his condition.
Over the past two years, more than 1,085 Palestinians have been killed and more than 10,700 injured in attacks by the military and illegal Israeli settlers in the occupied territories. More than 20,500 people were arrested.
Last July, in a landmark opinion, the International Court of Justice declared Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory illegal and called for its eviction from all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem (al-Quds).
