Lebanese forces announced on Saturday that they had discovered Israeli spy devices in southern Lebanon.
The Lebanese Army announced early on Saturday that it had discovered Israeli spy equipment and removed two dirt berms that Israeli forces had built in the southern Lebanon border area, according to a statement issued by the Orientation Bureau of Lebanon.
“During the course of an ongoing engineering research project in the southern region, specialized military forces were camouflaged and discovered camera-equipped enemy spy equipment in the outskirts of Brida Marjayon in southeastern Lebanon. The unit has dismantled the device,” the statement said.
The Army stated, “This unit also removed two earth berms built by the enemy in the villages of Brida and Maze Al Jabal.”
The statement noted that Lebanese forces continue to monitor the status of coordination with Lebanese forces amid ongoing Israeli violations of Lebanese sovereignty and security, particularly amid continuing violations in the South.
The Lebanese state-run National News Agency previously stated that “A Israeli army accompanied by two bulldozers had infiltrated the Almaradi vineyards on the outskirts of Maze Al Jabal in the eastern sector of the border area, where they built salt beds and were caught up in the leaves of Lebanese land.
The development takes place in a continuing ceasefire agreement between Hezbollah and Israel, mediated by the US and France, which has been in effect since November 27, 2024.
Despite the agreement, Israeli forces continue to carry out occasional strikes in Lebanon.
