Anadolu reporter said smoke rose from a nearby south riverside when the multi-story building collapsed.
The tower will evacuate hundreds of displaced Palestinian families, and there will be additional tents for other uprooted civilians surrounding it, Al Jazeera reported.
The military ordered residents to evacuate to the Almawasi region of southern Gaza, described by Israel as a “safe zone.”
Almawasi faces repeated Israeli attacks that have killed and injured hundreds amid the worsening humanitarian situation.
Israel has struck a number of high towers and hundreds of homes throughout Gaza city in recent weeks.
Palestinian officials and human rights groups say the pattern is aimed at ousting residents and clearing up cities for occupation.
Since October 2023, Israeli attacks have killed more than 66,000 people in Gaza, most of whom have killed women and children, leaving enclaves in abandoned, causing starvation and illness.
