TEHRAN – Iran’s foreign ministry has condemned the assassination of Israeli Prime Minister Yemeni Prime Minister Ahmed Galeb al-Rahawi and eight senior officials in the airstrikes of Sanaa, declaring that such “terrorist crimes” will never undermine Yemen’s solid support for the Palestinian cause.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) and Iranian forces have issued strong condemnations of Israel’s latest airstrikes against Yemen.
In a statement on Saturday, the Foreign Ministry described the assassination as “terrorist atrocities” and “heinous acts of fatal attacks,” emphasising it constitutes war crimes, crimes against humanity and acts of revenge designed to undermine Yemen’s support for Palestine.
The ministry called on the international community to take urgent and decisive action to stop Israel’s “malicious” and “lawless behavior.” It warned that Tel Aviv’s actions would not thwart the Yemeni state, but would rather deepen the rage of the masses across the Islamic world towards the Zionist regime and its main supporter, the United States.
“These crimes do not break the resolve of the people of Yemen,” the statement read. “Instead, they will promote even greater hatred and resistance to Israel and its supporters.”
The ministry urged global organisations and governments to take accountability to Israel’s “criminal masterminds” and fulfill their responsibility to prevent further bloodshed.
IRGC swears response through resistance
On Sunday, the IRGC issued its own statement, branding airstrikes as a clear example of “blatant war crimes” and state terrorism. The forces said the “evil and racist” Zionist regime had once again revealed the “savage and anti-human nature” through the murder of Sanaa.
“The dark faces of Zionist criminals have been exposed once more,” the IRGC declared, warning that Israel’s actions, fully supported by Washington and made possible by international silence, threatened local and global security.
The IRGC vowed that the region-wide resistance movement, particularly resilient people in Yemen, will bring a “shattering reaction” to the assassination. It was also urged to have Muslim governments and human rights groups abandon their omissions and take solid and practical steps to stop Israeli crime and to support both Yemen and Palestinian people.
Iranian military: a threat to Israeli mankind
In another statement, Iranian military reflected the condemnation, warning that Israel’s escalation in Yemen showed the regime as “fraud and criminal” poses serious danger to humanity.
In a pity to the Yemeni state, the Army said the assassination emphasized Israel’s “sparrow, criminal, inhuman” character. Unless contained, Israeli attacks have warned that it will lead to “acts of war and terror” throughout the region.
Yemeni President Mahdi al-Mashat delivered a fiery address in response to the assassination, causing serious consequences for Tel Aviv.
“Our vengeance will not sleep, and dark days will await you,” he declared. “I’ve never experienced any security after today.”
The latest Israeli strike in Sanaa left several injured Yemeni officials, in addition to killing Al-Rahawi and eight others. The attack follows a month-long, almost-day operation by Yemeni forces launched in retaliation against Israel’s Gaza War that began in October 2023.
Iranian officials warned that the targeted killing of the Yemeni Prime Minister marked a dangerous escalation in an Israeli campaign designed to prevent local officials from resisting ongoing attacks on Palestinians.
