TEHRAN – Iranian President Masuud Pezeshkian said Israel’s “unjust and lawless actions” have created a deep responsiveness among regional nations.
His remarks came in an interview with Fox News, which dealt with Iran’s nuclear program, US accusations and regional tensions.
Pezeshkian denounced Israel’s actions as the root cause of instability and hostility in the region.
In response to US President Donald Trump’s recent comments at the UN, Trump called Iran “a fear sponsor of the world’s top sponsors,” claiming that Tehran would never be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons — Pezeshkian completely rejected the charges. “In our policy there is no place for nuclear weapons or any other kind of weapons of mass destruction. The unfounded accusations they exaggerate are unacceptable. We have never sought nuclear weapons and we will never do that.
The president explained that Washington used such claims as an excuse to justify an attack on Iran despite a total lack of evidence. “If Trump’s goal was to not have nuclear weapons, it was already easy to achieve.
When asked about the enrichment of up to 60% of Iranian uranium, Pezeshkian admitted that such levels may not be necessary for regular energy use, but emphasized that enrichment occurred under strict international surveillance before the US unilaterally violated its 2015 nuclear deal.
“The JCPOA was the product of a dialogue between Europeans and Americans. Under that framework, the International Atomic Energy Agency conducted the most disturbing tests in history. They could appear anytime, anywhere. Iran was fully compliant. It was the United States that tore the agreement, not Iran.
Pezeschkian pointed out that after Washington abandoned the deal, European companies and investors who began working with Iran were forced to withdraw under US pressure.
The president is working on questions about why Iran continues to invest in nuclear power rather than prioritize domestic welfare, stressing that it is US sanctions and hostility, not Iran’s peaceful nuclear activity that has undermined the economy.
“Of course we want a better economy. But since the beginning of the Islamic Revolution, the United States has worked to prevent Iran from standing on its own feet. First, it promoted tribal and ethnic conflicts, and then supported Saddam Hussein’s war against us.
He reiterated that Iran’s nuclear program is always peaceful and aims for scientific and energy needs.
Asked about reports of Israeli invasions and intelligence reporting within Iran, Pezeshkian pointed to Tel Aviv’s aggressive policies.
“This simply proves that Israel is an invader. Israel routinely violates international law and attacks other states. Its actions create instability across the region. Anger for Israel, “death to Israel, death to America” is a response to this illegal activity,” he said.
The president dismissed Western claims, emphasizing that Iran’s regional allies act outside of extremism and that resistance groups will emerge as a natural response to Israel’s oppression.
“Why Hamas? Why are there Hezbollah? Did they act out of insanity? When people are kicked out of their homes, when their homes are demolished to their heads, when they are humiliated every day, no human will respond.
He firmly rejected the narrative that Iran promotes instability through a proxy, claiming that Tehran simply supports a oppressed state.
“Israel claims Iran is behind all the attacks, but he does not provide evidence. Can anyone place Iranians among Dash, al-Qaeda or similar terrorist groups? No. These accusations are not easy.
The interview also touched on women’s rights, and the president emphasized their active role in Iranian society and government.
“In Iran today, women enjoy far more freedom than outsiders believe. In my administration alone, five women hold senior positions. We continue to work for the equal rights of all, including women. What Western intelligence portrays about Iran is very different from the reality of everyday life.”
