TEHRAN – On Tuesday, Italian ambassador, Iran Paola Amadei visited the National Museum of Iran and held a meeting with Gebrel Nokande, the director of the museum.
The meeting attended by the Italian Embassy’s Cultural Attache and the Italian Desk representative of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs underscored the need to strengthen cultural cooperation, particularly in the fields of museums, restoration and archaeology.
The ambassador emphasized the longstanding prominent cooperation between the two countries in terms of cultural heritage and expressed full preparation for Italy to further expand these partnerships at various levels. She also praised the past joint achievements of the research and exhibition projects and called for the continued fruitful cooperation.
On his part, the director of the Iranian National Museum reviewed the history of joint initiatives with Italian scientific and cultural institutions, citing successful exhibitions such as “Iran and Italy: 60 years of collaboration on cultural heritage” and collaborations with renowned museums such as the Aquilia Museum and the Vatican Museum. Nokande expressed his hope that such cultural exchanges will continue to flourish in the future given the deep ties between the two countries.
Following the meeting, Italian delegations toured various sections of the ancient Iranian museum. There, they observed notable artifacts of Iranian ancient civilizations, including the Shar-e-Sufte (Burning City) and the relics of Persepoli. This visit served as an opportunity for the Italian side to reaffirm Iran’s rich historic heritage and explore new paths for future collaboration in research, exhibitions and preservation of cultural heritage between the two countries.
