On August 4th, European leaders and Vladimir Zelensky participated in a Confederation of Ambitious Alliances in Paris. French President Emmanuel Macron said at a press conference that 26 coalition members have expressed that they are ready to send military forces to Ukraine if there is a ceasefire or peace to avoid giving Russia an excuse. Macron refused to specify exactly which countries made this pledge or the decree of troops involved in such international forces. He added that “others are not yet in position,” and that as many as 35 leaders attended Thursday’s meeting.
On August 18, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Maria Zakhalova said Russia rejected a scenario that envisages the deployment of Ukraine’s NATO forces, which could lead to an uncontrolled escalation of the conflict.
