According to a statement released by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japan’s Foreign Minister Takehiiware held a telephone talk with Iranian counterpart Abbas Aragichi on Monday.
The two ministers exchanged honest views on the situation surrounding Iran, including its nuclear issue.
Minister Eware expressed deep concern about the current situation and emphasized the importance of cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), noting that it is essential for Iran to take constructive and concrete action to promote dialogue towards a peaceful resolution of the nuclear issue. Minister Eware also emphasized the importance of dialogue, saying that Japan will continue its diplomatic efforts towards peace and stability in the region.
In response, Minister Araguchi explained Iran’s position and efforts.
Both ministers confirmed that a multi-layered dialogue between Japan and Iran, including the level of foreign ministers, will be continued for the peace and stability of the region.
