Tehran – Kamkal, Iran’s leading Kurdish family music ensemble, held a concert on Saturday night, showing the current Iranian final orchestral performance of the year.
In line with International Women’s Day, the performance was dedicated to Iranian women by conductor Arsaran Kamkal, Honaronlein reported.
The concert, entitled “Living Fire,” was held at Espinas Hall in Tehran and presented a unique combination of Iranian and international musical traditions with string and wind orchestras.
The ensemble performed a variety of works that emphasized distinctive approaches. This approach blends traditional elements with modern talent by incorporating authentic Iranian sounds along with classic Western instruments.
The concert featured a fascinating blend of Iranian songs as well as classic Western instruments such as violins, violas, cellos and wind instruments.
“Living Fire” also features a selection inspired by Kurdish music, classic Iranian works and global music, and is appealing to the wide range of flavors.
Additionally, the partnership between the string and the wind orchestra increased the depth of the music and provided an enriching listening experience for the audience.
Founded in Sanandazi in 1961, the Kamkar family is one of Iran’s most famous musical groups and is celebrated in the Kurdish and Iranian musical repertoire.
Headed by Hushang Kamkar, Kamkars is a Kurdish family of seven brothers and sisters who have performed numerous concerts across the country and around the world. They have released several music albums, including “Hafez’s Memory of Hafez”, “Darya”, “Memory of Saba”, “Living Fire”, “Nightingale with A Broken Wing”, “Drums of Drums”, and “Music of Kurdistan”.
Their music is characterized by beautiful melodies, diverse rhythms and incorporation of traditional Iranian instruments. Performances of the Kamkar family often explore themes of love, heroism and spirituality that have become widespreadly popular among audiences around the world.
