TEHRAN – In a move aimed at strengthening parliamentary and economic ties, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bakar Karibahu will lead a high-level delegation on Latin America’s multi-country tours at planned stops in Venezuela, Cuba and Brazil.
Abolfazl Amouei, a special assistant to international affairs speakers, announced his upcoming visit, which begins on Sunday. The tour includes official meetings with senior officials from around the country and parliamentary officials, leading to Iran’s participation in Brazil’s BRICS parliamentary forum.
According to Amouei, the visit reflects Iran’s intention to deepen bilateral cooperation with Latin American countries, particularly in the areas of trade and economy. “Latin America provides a valuable opportunity for the Islamic Republic of Iran to expand its commercial and economic partnerships,” he said.
The first war of travel will bring Iranian delegations to the Bolivar Republic of Venezuela, where parliament is expected to focus on strengthening parliamentary relations and addressing obstacles to bilateral economic cooperation.
In Cuba, speaker Karibah and his delegation will meet with Cuba’s top wing staff. Amouei describes Cuba as “the focus of a justice-oriented approach in Latin America,” highlighting the symbolic importance of Iran’s foreign policy towards the region.
The delegation concludes his trip in Brazil, where he will attend the BRICS Parliamentary Forum. It is an important platform for dialogue in emerging economies. Iran is increasing interest in expanding relations with BRICS countries as part of a broader strategy to strengthen multilateral diplomacy and reduce dependence on the Western economic system.
“The development of economic cooperation is the main purpose of this Latin American tour,” Amei emphasized, highlighting the strategic nature of the visit as it transforms global partnerships.
