Tehran – Iran’s Minister of Political Affairs and Foreign Affairs, Majid Takt Ravanch, emphasized the importance of cultural cooperation in fostering stronger relations between Iran and Austria.
He emphasized that such collaborations serve as an important bridge between the two countries, deepening mutual understanding and human connection.
Takht-Ravanchi made these statements in a post on his social media account X. He shared details about his participation at the University of Tehran at the conference entitled “The History of Cultural and Diplomatic Relations between Iran and Austria.” The event brought together scholars, diplomats and cultural experts to discuss the historical and contemporary importance of Iran-Austrian relations, particularly in the fields of education, research and cultural exchange.
In his speech, the Deputy Minister highlighted the long history of Iran’s cultural involvement with Austria, noting that their cooperation transcends political and economic ties. He noted that thousands of Iranians living in Austria, including doctors, professors, students and business experts, play an important role in bridge the two countries and fostering deeper cultural dialogue. His presence, he said, has contributed greatly to promoting and strengthening mutual understanding, respect for people’s diplomacy between Iran and Austria.
Takht-Ravanchi also tackled challenges that hinder cultural and academic cooperation, particularly the unilateral sanctions imposed by the US and the European Union. He criticized these sanctions as unfair measures that directly affect Iran’s cultural and academic exchanges, limiting opportunities for cooperation in science, the arts and education. He called for immediate removal of these restrictions, arguing that lifting them would pave the way for wider and more effective cultural and educational partnerships.
In outlines Iran’s proactive approach to cultural diplomacy, he highlighted Tehran’s extensive efforts to expand relations with Austrian institutions. These initiatives include collaboration with academic and research organizations, engagement with Austrian cultural and Islamic centres, and partnerships with media and cultural associations. He also said that Iranian Cultural Attachment Office in Austria plays an important role in promoting Iranian cultural, literary and academic exchange programs.
