Tehran – The Iranian short film “Halil,” directed by Seid Payam Hosseini, was selected for the 23rd Plain La Bobin International Film Festival in La Boulevur, France from June 8th to 13th.
The 20-minute drama produced in 2024 takes place in a small village on the Iranian Heights. The story is about Halil, a 13-year-old boy. He is troubled after his father’s death as he wonders whether his father went to heaven or hell. Determined to find the answer, he sets out on a personal journey to discover the truth. He asks the villagers who knew his father to forgive him for the sins he may have committed. Halil writes to God and pleads for mercy.
The story beautifully captures the child’s innocence and determination in the face of spiritual uncertainty.
“Through the world of children, we can address global issues, not just social, political and religious concerns, in a more subtle and beautiful way,” the director said of the film.
