TEHRAN – Iran hosted the fourth International Multimedia Cultural Heritage Festival in Quezestan Province in January 2026, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts said on Monday.
The slogan for the event is “Our Iran, Our (Cultural) Heritage, Our (Cultural Heritage, Our Iran.” Categories include TV, radio, film, film, outdoor and field performance, guardians of youth heritage, poetry and music, publications, photography, digital heritage, and international entries.
According to organizers, each category will feature major awards along with two additional awards. Special international awards for intangible heritage will also be presented to selected works.
They added that pre-festival activities will be held in Fuzestan to encourage community involvement. These include training workshops in the state’s cities and villages, local exhibitions, expert meetings, and cultural tours.
Starting in Yazd in 2022, the festival took place in Kazbin in 2023 and Shiraz in 2024. It was created to promote heritage recognition, identify young talent, and encourage competition in multimedia productions related to cultural heritage.
Located at the front of the Persian Gulf and adjacent to Iraq to the west, Kzestan was settled around 6000 BC by people with affinity for the Sumerians from the Zagros Mountains region. The region later became the centre of the kingdom of Elamite, with Susa as its capital.
