In 1987, the first session of the Khwarizmi Award called on Iranian people to present notable contributions, inventions or innovations.
The fifth session of the Khwarizmi Awards created a foreign section and made the Khwarizmi Awards international.
In 1997, Iranian researchers and scientists living abroad were invited to participate in this honorable scientific competition.
