TEHRAN – The Persian translation of Ronald David Lane’s “Nots” has been released in bookstores across Iran.
According to Mair, Youssef Najafi Jabro is a translator of books published by Tag Publishing.
First published in 1970, “Knots” consists of a series of dialogue scenarios, each complete in itself, that can be read as poems or short plays. Each chapter describes different types of “knots” in bonds such as love, dependence, anxiety, and jealousy.
The dialogue can be between lovers, parents and children, analyst and patient, or a blend of all three. Each piece perfectly demonstrates Lane’s insight into the complexities of human relationships.
Ronald David Laing (1927-1989), usually referred to as RD Laing, was a Scottish psychiatrist who wrote extensively on mental illness, particularly psychosis and schizophrenia.
Raine’s views on the causes and treatment of psychopathological phenomena were influenced by research in existential philosophy and were opposed to the chemical and electroshock techniques that had become orthodox in psychiatry.
Lane viewed the expressed emotions of individual patients and clients not simply as symptoms of mental illness, but as valid explanations of their personal experiences. Publicly he was associated with the anti-psychiatry movement, but he rejected that label. Lane viewed schizophrenia as a normal psychological adaptation to a dysfunctional social situation.
