According to Press TV, General Vahidi, a veteran commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), has held important military and government positions over the past 40 years.
He served as commander of the Quds Force and deputy minister of defense from 1988 to 1997, and then as minister of defense and logistics.
He also served as Chairman of Iran’s Politics, Defense and Security Committee on the Council for Discrimination of Expediency and contributed to the Fifth Development Plan, while also serving as Chairman of the Defense and Security Committee of the Foreign and Strategic Council.
Mr. Vahidi holds a bachelor’s degree in electronic engineering and an advanced degree in strategic studies and began his career as a deputy intelligence officer in the Revolutionary Guards from 1985 to 1988. He also served as Iran’s Minister of Interior.
The appointment comes as Iran seeks to strengthen military coordination across its armed forces amid evolving regional and domestic security challenges.
