Lebanese leaders on Thursday firmly condemned the regime’s repeated violations of the ceasefire contract.
Lebanon Prime Minister Nawaf Salam condemned the Israeli strike and described it as a “systematic and deliberate attack on Lebanon’s security, stability and economy,” according to Top Press Television.
He urged the international community to force Israel to continue its attacks and to force the regime to withdraw entirely from Lebanon’s territory.
Lebanon President Joseph Own has also denounced Israel’s attacks, calling them a “notable” violation of all international agreements.
In a statement, President Aoun expressed “a firm condemnation of Israel’s aggression” and “a fierce violation of the international agreement on the eve of the sacred religious festival.”
Similarly, Parliament Speaker Navi Beli called on all Lebanese citizens to unite in the face of attacks on the regime’s nation.
The UN Lebanon special coordinator also called for an immediate halt of actions that could further undermine the ceasefire.
The coordinator called on all parties to use diplomatic channels to prevent unnecessary and dangerous escalations.
After nearly 14 months of conflict and a massive loss of failing to achieve its targets in the attack on Lebanon, Israel was forced to accept a ceasefire with Hezbollah. This ceasefire came into effect on November 27, 2024.
Since the start of the agreement, occupying forces have launched attacks in Lebanon, including airstrikes across the Arab state, violating the ceasefire.
On January 27th, Lebanon announced its decision to extend the ceasefire with Israel until February 18th.
