BEIRUT – The Lebanese government has approved Starlink’s license and is said to “provide internet distribution services across Lebanon via satellite,” ignoring all security reports that it has expressed fear that Internet access will be diverted from outside the Ministry of Telecommunications.
It should be noted that Starlink is owned by billionaire Elon Musk, one of the Zionist organization’s biggest supporters.
Under this decision, which violates the Public Procurement Act and Telecommunications Regulatory Authorities, as provided in the Communications Act (No. 431/2002), Starlink can divert internet access from overseas without security surveillance and promote spying and communication with Israeli enemies.
Therefore, Telecommunications Minister Charles Hajj cheaply cast the entire telecommunications sector into the swamp of privatization.
In the first year of this agreement alone, public sector losses are estimated at around $5.9 million in Treasury revenues. Regarding the losses for private internet companies, the losses are expected to reach around $1.1 million per month.
Said Ibrahim al-Masawi, head of the Congressional Communications Commission, repeatedly warned the Minister of Communications’ claims regarding the agreement agreement with Starlink despite security concerns raised by professional security agencies.
In the opinion of MP Al-Moussawi, contracting with this company or another company is, in this way, a concession requiring the law passed unanimously by the House of Representatives, securing the public interest and the Ministry of Finance.
However, the government, obsessed with the recognition of “arms monopoly”, does not seem to refrain from trying to break the exclusiveness of internet and communication services!
The government has achieved only stubbornness, ignored Lebanon’s interests, showed no mercy to the people of the South and the Bekaa’s pleas, and also showed mercy to the voices of the families of prisoners who are suffering under a series of attacks, and the enemy is holding them.
These families, together with the committee of representatives for prisoners and detainees, held a solidarity meeting in the Lebanese press on Friday, demanding an investigation into their terms and working towards their release.
More than 4,000 Zionist violations of Lebanon’s sovereignty, and about 260 martyrs and 500 injured, are the result of ongoing Zionist attacks that have been ongoing since the announcement of the agreement last October, despite alleged US and French guarantees.
According to Al-Moussawi, the root of the objection to the Starlink contract is its ability to promote Starlink users’ ability to connect directly to the Internet without pursuing local censorship mechanisms. It also undermines the principles of digital sovereignty.
This is because Mohiedin Hasna, convicted by a military court that allegedly handed over pager data to an Israeli enemy, was released. Last week, the Gulf Collateral Channel gave him a long period to discuss his alleged “innocent.”
