TEHRAN – Lebanese President Joseph Aung has emphasized the importance of regional cooperation and stability and expressed his country’s commitment to fostering the best possible relationship with Tehran.
At a meeting in Beirut on Sunday, Ounu reiterated Lebanese’s desire to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties with Iran during a meeting between Iranian parliamentary Speaker Mohammad Bakr Karibah and Foreign Minister Abbas Aragut. .
“Lebanon is keen to establish the best relationship with Tehran,” said President Aoun, who emphasized Beirut’s stance on maintaining constructive engagement with regional partners.
To address the wider Western Asian landscape, Aoun referenced the recent Riyadh summit. “We support this approach,” he stressed, adding that Lebanon, which has endured decades of war, is moving towards a future of peace and stability.
“Our country has lost many commanders and leaders over the years,” Aoun said. “During the recent war with Israel, brave martyrs have sacrificed their lives to protect Lebanon’s sovereignty and stability.”
Karibah reaffirmed Iran’s support for Lebanon’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, highlighting Tehran’s preparations to help rebuild the country along with Arab and Islamic countries.
“Iran recognizes the importance of Lebanon’s independence and stability and is ready to contribute to working with players from other regions to restructure its efforts,” the Iranian chairman said. .
Karibah also extended the official invitation of Iranian President Masuud Pezeshkian to AON and gave a warm greeting from Iranian leaders to visit Tehran.
The Iranian delegation was in Beirut to attend a large funeral procession for Hezbollah leaders, highlighting the deep political and strategic ties between Lebanon and Iran.
