Tehran – A senior Iranian official reaffirms the Islamic Republic’s commitment to legally pursue the recent US-Israel attack on Iran’s Israeli territory, calling it a clear violation of international law and human rights.
Qasem Galibabadi, deputy foreign minister of Iran’s Judicial and International Affairs, made a statement in an interview with the official website of the leader of the Islamic Revolution and the official website of the leader of Ali Khamenei. Comments came on the sidelines at a ceremony in Tehran, marking the 40th day since the murder of Iranian martialism in last month’s 12-day conflict.
Galibabadi emphasized that legal measures are central pillars of Iran’s response to invasion, explaining blatant violations of the UN Charter and strikes as a principle of international law.
“The perpetrators have already received solid military responses,” he said. “Now, the focus is on legal accountability. Two comprehensive reports detailing legal violations, including the murder of children, women and the entire family, have been prepared and are at the final stage of the document.”
He said the report was submitted to both the UN Security Council and other international organizations. “Legal efforts are often hampered by political considerations at the global stage, but this should not lead to rudeness or despair,” added Galibabadi.
“The first step is to document and register these crimes, file formal complaints, and pursue them through all available channels. If these efforts are successful, it will be a great achievement.
On June 13, Israel launched an unprovoked attack on Iran, assassinating senior military commanders, nuclear scientists and civilians. A few days later, the US escalated the conflict by bombing three Iranian nuclear facilities. This has been accused Tehran of a serious violation of the UN Charter and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
Iranian troops responded by surprise strategic sites within occupied Palestinian territory and targeting Aldead Air Base in Qatar, Washington’s largest military facility in West Asia.
On June 24, Iran’s coordinated, retaliatory strike ended hostilities. As Israel’s defenses were overwhelmed, the administration called for a ceasefire and effectively halted illegal assaults.
