TEHRAN – Mohammad Nazem Razabi, managing director of Tehran city’s Cultural Space Development Company, has announced the news that he will hold strategic sessions for renovation of the building’s facade and emergency protection of the museum’s home and emergency protection, providing personal protection for the late Ayatollah Mamoud Tarakani.
Pointing to the Talekani family’s registration on the National Heritage List, he called the house a prominent building from an architectural standpoint, particularly in terms of the cultural and religious status of Ayatollah Talekani, Mehr’s news agency reported.
He said that after several sessions were held and coordinated with the presence of the Deputy Director of the Cultural Heritage Department, Tehran, other strategic sessions were held to study the participation of managers of cultural heritage experts, counseling companies and cultural space development companies, as well as the preliminary plans for the renovation of the monument.
Additionally, preliminary and urgent measures have been taken to protect the building, including renovations to arches, walls and accessible staircases.
He added that damaged windows were also collected and sent for renovations.
Razavi continued that nearly 900 historic monuments have been registered throughout Tehran, with 33 of them relating to cultural, religious and scientific personalities.
He pointed out the home of the poets of Shimin and Jalal, which have been renovated by Martyr Motahhari, Martyr Chamran, poet Mehdi Akhavan, and the Cultural Spaces Development Company and opened to visitors.
He said the Ayatollah Talekani home is considered a valuable and important monument given the events of modern history and the role of Talekani as one of the pioneers of the Islamic Revolution. Therefore, the renovations are placed on the agenda with the aim of improving its quality and maintaining the reliability and integrity of the building, he added.
At a ceremony held in January 2025, the registration plate of the historic home of the late Ayatollah Mahmoud Talekani was officially announced and indicated that it will be included in the Iranian national cultural heritage list.
The event, held at the Iranian National Museum, opened a special exhibition featuring rarely seen photographs of Ayatollah Talekani.
The event was attended by Seiyed Reza Salehi Amiri, Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Crafts.
The exhibition displayed 50 rare photographs from various stages of Ayatollah Talekani’s life.
Speaking at the ceremony, Salehiamiri emphasized the importance of maintaining the memory of influential figures like Talekani. “This is not a political or a collection of propaganda, but it is an effort to introduce the younger generation to the great character of our country,” he said, highlighting the importance of closing generational gaps in understanding Iran’s cultural heritage.

The Minister described Talekani’s house as more than a historical structure, calling it the “teller of events.” “The house is part of Tehran’s identity and has witnessed a pivotal moment in history,” the minister added.
