After lightning hit the area after fuel oil tanks set the Abadan refinery on Thursday morning.
Reza Naeimi, the head of spokesman for the Abadan Refinery, told the media that under severe weather conditions, lightning struck one of the fuel tanks, causing a fire. He added that the refinery’s rapid response and crisis management team took action immediately, containing the fire in the shortest possible time.
Naeimi emphasized that there were no casualties in the incident and that the tank had not been seriously damaged. He added that the Abadan refinery is fully operational.
The Abadan Refinery, Iran’s oldest and largest refinery, has played an important role in the oil industry. The refinery was damaged by the imposed war of the Iraxadam regime, but was rebuilt and expanded with the efforts of its staff.
