Tehran -“M. Butterfly”, a play by American playwright David Henry Fan was published in Persian.

“M. Butterfly” intersects the story of the Opera “Madama Bata Fly” with the relationship between the French diplomat Barscott Barnard Bursicotto and the Beijing Opera Singer Sea Pay PU. The play premier in Broadway in 1988 was praised by critics, won the Tony Award for the best play, and became a finalist at the Puritzer’s Award in 1989.
The plot will introduce Galimard, which has been developed in three acts and has been imprisoned for rebellion. Through the flashback, he does not know that he is a man who is a woman who plays a beautiful opera singer, a passionate but misplaced love of singing, and is a man playing as a woman.
As the story progresses, Galimard learns that the song was a Chinese government spy, leading to the final fall of Galimard and imprisonment. The final action reveals the truth about their relationship, leads to Galimard’s tragic suicide, reflecting the fate of the butterfly in the opera.
“M. Butterfly” began in 1988 at the Washington DC National Theater. After that, a total of 777 performances were held in Broadway at the Eugene O’Neill Theater in 1988, and before the closed in 1990.
The original production was directed by John Dexter, and famous actors such as John Lisgow were singing famous actors such as Rene Galimad and BD Won. The play deserves attention with the innovative blends of the abstract staging, Puccini’s opera and modern pop music.
In a unique Moscow production directed by Roman Victic, Kazakh’s countertainer Eric Kumangangariev starred as a song and played the live alia of “Madame Butterfly”. This work is published by Plume, and an audio recording featuring the original Broadwaycast is also produced.
