Preliminary results released by the National Election Council (CNE) on Monday showed that PSUV and its allies had won 82.68% of the seats in the Parliament the day before.
PSUV has secured 40 of the 50 seats contested on the national list, consolidating Parliamentary control over the next legislative period.
The landslide victory will also preserve control of the Attorney General and the Supreme Court, elected by lawmakers.
According to election officials, 42.66% of registered voters voted nationwide. Approximately 21.4 million people have been registered. That is, about 9.12 million voters participated.
CNE vice president Carlos Quintero noted that the figures are the same as those for the 2021 election.
Meanwhile, CNE president Elvis Amoroso said the election took place peacefully and without incident thanks to the commitment and development of security from the people of Venezuela.
After voting, Maduro said the election “beating violence and fascism” and reaffirmed Venezuela’s commitment to peace and sovereignty.
The main opposition led by engineer and former MP Maria Corina Machado was urging Venezuelans not to boycott the election.
However, Maduro shrugged his boycott claims and said, “When the other party withdraws from the field, we will advance and occupy the terrain.”
More than 6,600 candidates from 54 political organizations participated in the election, renewing 285 representatives, 260 community lawmakers and 24 governors.
