General Musavi made comments during a meeting with the secretary of the Armenian Armenigrigorian Visit Security Council held in Tehran on Saturday.
During the meeting, top Iranian generals pointed to historical and cultural commonalities between the two countries and emphasized that the peace agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan will bring peace and security to the region, and these trends have always been welcomed by Iran.
He stressed that the presence of power outside the territory, including the US, is a major source of concern in the region.
Top Armenian security officers highlighted the growth trends in relations and cooperation between the two countries, highlighting the need to further strengthen the foundations of these relationships and develop security cooperation.
Grigorian evaluated the agreement signed between the two countries in the framework of Armenia’s Peace Initiative on August 8, highlighting Armenia’s efforts to preserve national sovereignty over the Sheenik route (corridor) and to prevent negative impacts on Armenia’s relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
During the meeting, bilateral military relations between Iran and Armenia were also briefly reviewed.
Both sides also emphasized the need to further develop cooperation.
