Tehran – Major General Amir Khatami has been appointed by Commander Ayatollah Seiyed Ali Khamenei, commander of the Iranian Army.
An experienced soldier, General Hatami previously served as Iran’s Minister of Defence from 2013 to 2021.
In the official order, Ayatollah Khamenei cited Khatami’s “devotion, ability, experience” as the basis for his appointment, calling for a “transformative and innovative approach” under his leadership.
“The vast pool of competent and loyal personnel in the Army and the experience gained during sacred defense will accelerate your efforts under your command to strengthen combat readiness, strengthen your spiritual and ideological foundations, improve personnel welfare and support cooperation with other departments of the military.”
The leader also expressed his gratitude to Abdulrahim Musavi’s retired commander, who praised his “honest and valuable efforts” during his tenure.
The assassination of General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri led Ayatollah Khamenei to appointed Major General Seyed Abdulrahim Musavi as chief of staff in the army.
