Security officials said the attack targeted the terrorist network’s main headquarters and eliminated several key personnel involved in cross-border attacks in Pakistan, The Express Tribune reported.
Those killed include Khalji Farman, Khalji Sadiqullah Dawar, Khalji Ghazi Madakhel, Khalji Muqarrab, Khalji Kismatullah, Khalji Gulab, Khalji Rehmani, Khalji Adil, Khalji Fazlur Rehman (uncle of Harji Gul Bahadur), and Khalji. Aasiqullah and Harji Yunas said this, according to sources.
Security officials said the Khalji Gul Bahadur group is a long-standing threat responsible for numerous terrorist attacks in Pakistan that have left scores of civilians and military personnel dead or injured.
The group was directly involved in a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device (VBIED) attack in Qadi, North Waziristan, on October 17, which killed three women, two children, and one soldier, and injured six other military personnel.
In another incident on the same night, police intercepted another VBIED in Bannu, thwarting what authorities said was a possible “large-scale terrorist attack.”
Islamabad has repeatedly asked Afghan Taliban authorities to ensure that Afghan soil is not used for attacks on Pakistan, the officials added.
