2001 should be considered the starting point for performances of street shows in Malivan as the sixth anniversary of the Maliban Regional Theatre took place that year. The first national festival of the Malivan Street Theatre was held in 2004.
Street theatre is a type of theatrical performance and presentation in outdoor public spaces without a specific paid viewer. These spaces can be found anywhere, whether in shopping centres, parking, recreational reserves, university or university campuses, or on street corners. They are especially seen in outdoor spaces with many people.
Actors who perform street theatres range from bhaskers to organized theatre companies and groups who want to experiment with performance spaces and promote mainstream work. This was a source of information to people if there was no source to provide information such as television or radio. Today, performers are sometimes commissioned, especially for street festivals, children’s shows and parades.
Street theatre is a way to provide access to traditional theatres for those who may otherwise be unable to attend or purchase tickets. The audience is usually made up of everyone, and most people who want to see most of the performances.
