The event attracted over 200 global representatives from 87 countries, international and regional organizations, as well as 165 media outlets and institutions, according to People’s Daily Online.
Forum participants said that since President Xi Jinping proposed the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) in 2013, it has achieved fruitful results and has grown into a platform for popular international public goods and global cooperation.
At the recent “Shanghai Cooperation Agency Plus” conference, President XI advocated for the Global Governance Initiative, providing Chinese wisdom and solutions, creating new and broader opportunities to promote a more equitable and equitable global governance system and advance high-quality belt and road cooperation.

Forum participants noted that media outlets around the world should strengthen cooperation, act as practitioners and promoters of the Silk Road spirit, and support the principles of equality, mutual learning, dialogue and inclusivity among civilizations. They said the media will serve as recorders and storytellers of development outcomes, continuing to report on belt and road cooperation practices, helping to build wide momentum for cooperation that is beneficial to both sides.
They said the media needs to help advance mutual learning among civilizations, use quality works to build understanding, bridge and strengthen the foundations of communities with a shared future for humanity.
Jointly held by People’s Daily, the Communist Party of China (CPC) Yunnan Provincial Committee and the Forum, the People’s Government in Yunnan Provincial, focused on the theme of “Shared Media Responsibility for Exchange and Mutual Learning among Civilizations.” It consisted of an opening ceremony, a main forum, several subforms, the second Silk Road Global News Awards ceremony, and a 10+3 media cooperation forum.
Following the forum, Chinese and international media representatives will conduct joint reporting activities in Yunnan and other states, autonomous regions, and local governments across the country.
Since its founding in 2014, the Belt and Road has been held nine times at the Media Cooperation Forum. It has attracted over 1,000 representatives from global media outlets in over 100 countries and regions and international and regional organizations, building wide consensus and momentum to advance high-quality belt and road cooperation.
