Microsoft has implemented a policy that blocks employee emails that contain the words “Palestine,” “Gaza,” or “genocide,” to internal exchange servers, reported Drop Site News.
According to Azure No Azure from Apartheid, a group of Pro-Palestine Microsoft employees, automated filters prevent such emails from reaching recipients.
This filter took effect on Wednesday following Microsoft’s Build Developer Conference. This was faced with repeated confusion by activist groups, Drop Site added.
Microsoft faces internal dissent from employees regarding cooperation with the Israeli military in the ongoing war with Palestinians in Gaza, where scholars consider genocide widely.
Employees are protesting the company’s provision of cloud services and other critical infrastructure used by the Israeli military.
Microsoft provided technology to the Israeli military. “We offer coordinated cloud and AI services proposals and substantial discounts. These transactions negotiated and escalated over several months, positioning Microsoft as the leading technology provider during Israeli military operations in Gaza.”
