TEHRAN – Iran’s top military leaders have confirmed the country’s unwavering resolve to destroy terrorism and protect Pakistan’s shared borders following an increase in terrorist activity along the volatile frontier.
In a call on Tuesday, Iran’s Chief of Staff Major General Abdulrahim Musavi highlighted the urgent need for strengthening security cooperation.
“Unfortunately, the movement of terrorist groups on both sides of the border is increasing and we are ready to work together to eradicate terrorism in the region and ensure a common boundary,” Musabi said. The declaration comes shortly after the brutal terrorist attacks that martialized five Iranian police officers in southeastern Iran, further highlighting the urgent need for decisive action.
Reflecting Iran’s concerns, Munir Field expressed his sadness to the fallen officers and emphasized his commitment to transforming Pakistan’s borders into something defined by brotherly love, economic prosperity and mutual respect. He assured us that this vision could be achieved through enhanced collaboration.
Beyond security issues, General Musabi has expressed his sincere sympathy for the people of Pakistanis who are facing catastrophic losses from the recent floods and pledged to provide possible support from the Iranian army. The flood was the tragic result of a heavy monsoon rain, which took hundreds of lives and forced countless families out.
The Iranian general also thanked Pakistan for its support during the US-Israel invasion that lasted 12 days in June, stressing that concrete steps against terrorists are expected as a direct result of this strengthened partnership.
He added that “several steps have been taken in the past,” but that more decisive action is needed to compensate for previous shortcomings.
Iran and Pakistan have traditionally maintained friendly relations, but their ties have increased significantly in recent years. To promote this momentum is a consistent high level of engagement and concrete efforts to expand cooperation beyond military issues into vibrant areas of the economy and culture.
