The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemned the baseless accusations, irresponsible and disgraceful statements made by the US president regarding Iran in the presence of the perpetrators of the Gaza massacre in the Knesset on Monday.
The statement said the United States is the world’s largest sponsor of terrorism and has no moral standing to accuse other countries of supporting the terrorist and genocidal Israeli regime.
The ministry expressed deep respect for the immortal hero of Iran and the region, Martyr Qasem Soleimani, who played an unparalleled role in countering the US-created ISIL terrorism, adding that the brutal assassination of this great figure and his comrades by the US will never be forgiven or forgotten by the Iranian people.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that repeating false claims about Iran’s peaceful nuclear program can never justify the joint crimes of the US and Israeli regimes of violating Iranian soil and assassinating Iranian citizens. The report said boasting about crimes and aggression only increases the burden of U.S. responsibility and reveals the depth of U.S. policymakers’ hostility toward the Iranian state.
The statement further added that the United States’ complicity and active participation in the Israeli regime’s genocide and warmongering in occupied Palestine is clear, and that the United States must be held responsible for enabling impunity, including by blocking effective action against Israel in the United Nations Security Council and by obstructing international judicial processes to bring Israeli criminals to justice.
The ministry said that the United States’ interventionist policies in the region, support for occupation and Israeli crimes, and unrestricted arms sales make the United States the biggest source of instability and security in the region.
Furthermore, it argued that President Trump’s professed desire for peace and dialogue is inconsistent with America’s hostile and criminal actions against the Iranian people. The statement rhetorically asked how one could claim peace and then friendship while attacking residential areas and peaceful nuclear facilities, killing more than a thousand people, including women and children.
The ministry concluded by saying that Iranians, based on their rich cultural and historical heritage, are a people of reason, dialogue and engagement, while defending Iran’s independence, national dignity and supreme interests with courage and determination.
