Major General Ali Abdullahi, commander of Iran’s Khatam al-Anbia Central Command, said in a meeting with a number of Iranian parliamentarians on Monday that the Iranian military is tasked with strengthening its defense and offensive readiness in view of the changing nature of threats and in line with the characteristics of future wars.
He warned that adversaries need to understand that Iran continually monitors its movements and maintains preparedness, stressing that any miscalculation or act of aggression will have consequences that far exceed the gains that adversaries seek to secure.
The commander pointed out that the US, an enemy of the Zionists, imposed a 12-day war on Iran due to miscalculations, adding that the Iranian military’s response was harsh and regrettable.
On June 13, the Zionist regime launched an unprovoked war of aggression against Iran, targeting military, nuclear, and residential areas for 12 consecutive days. Then, on June 22, the United States attacked three Iranian nuclear facilities in Natanz, Fordow, and Isfahan, escalating the conflict.
The Iranian military responded immediately and forcefully. IRGC Aerospace Forces conducted 22 waves of retaliatory missile strikes under Operation True Promise III, inflicting significant damage and heavy losses on cities across the occupied territories.
In retaliation for the US attack, Iranian forces also targeted Qatar’s al-Udeid Air Base, the largest US military installation in West Asia, with a barrage of missiles.
The conflict ended on June 24, and a ceasefire was enforced.
