The Guardian said more than 150 lawyers, human rights, refugees and environmental groups are “silenced” after being raped and death threats from far-right and anti-immigrant protesters.
At least two refugee NGOs who have supported asylum seekers who have been notified from their home offices have been forcibly taken away by France under the “one, one” scheme of workers’ controversy and have closed their offices after a reliable threat to safety.
With many lawyers including Liberty, Greenpeace, Care4Calais, bail for the choice of bail, choice, freedom from torture for immigrant detainees, and KCS, they signed a statement that it was an act of solidarity that they called for intimidated.
They are particularly concerned about how media and social media are instigating flames when referring to immigration.
The statement said: “In recent days, we have seen an increase in media reports and social media attacks targeting organizations that support immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers in our community.
“We urgently call for the media narrative that is blowing the flames of the department. Journalists and media outlets are obliged to act responsibly and in good faith, especially when it comes to their reports, headlines and social media output.”
