TEHRAN – The 5th International Combined Olympics (ICO 2025) was held in Tehran on October 30 and 31, bringing together around 5,000 competitors from more than 70 countries in person and online.
Combinatorics is a branch of mathematics concerned primarily with counting as both a means and an end to obtaining results, and with certain properties of finite structures.
ICO is an annual competition focused on high quality questions related to combinatorics. The main objective is to help students understand combinatorics as a creative, wide-ranging and fun topic in a fun and engaging way, and to provide them with the opportunity to compete with students from other countries.
ICO is the first competition in the field of combinatorics to include online scoring and rankings. It is open to anyone interested in mathematics and computer science, from high school students to other educational levels.
On the first day of the competition, students attempted to answer 15 short answer questions within two hours. On the second day, participants answered seven long-answer questions within five hours, IRNA reported.
Additionally, the 12th Iranian Geometry Olympiad was held in-person and online on October 17th, attracting 10,000 students from 50 countries.
The Iranian Geometry Olympiad is an annual international competition that evaluates students’ skills in solving geometry problems. Enhance logical thinking, imagination, and analytical thinking using creative and innovative problems in geometry.
