Warner told TASS that around 3,870 employees (21% of NASA’s workforce) have agreed to participate in two postponed resignation programs.
“NASA was expected to have remaining civil service labor following both postponed resignation programs, which have been subject to normal exhaustion (approximately 500) over the same period as the resignation program, about 14,000,” the spokesman designated, adding that “these figures could fluctuate.”
Previously, US President Donald Trump’s administration began cutting key staff at many agencies. Entrepreneur Elon Musk, who until recently led the Ministry of Government Efficiency (DOGE), was actively involved in the job.
