Tehran – Director of Yazd Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Bureau said that major handicraft exhibitions will be held at Yazd International Exhibition Centre from May 20-24.
Abdolmajid Arabi explained that the five-day event marks the world’s handicraft day and aims to focus on handmade pieces in every corner of Iran, Mehr’s news agency reported.
Apart from displaying handicrafts, he said the display of traditional bread and black tents from nomads would make the event more diverse.
He added that 140 food stalls have been allocated to various states, and 50 food stalls have been allocated to Yazd city.
Pointing to the importance of crafts as part of Yazd’s cultural identity, he stated that the focus is in the indigenous and authentic field.
Additionally, training workshops and gatherings will be held in branding and marketing to improve the knowledge of people involved in crafts.
The Omid Entrepreneurship Fund will provide visitors with facilities up to 200 million rial ($222) for the purchase of handicrafts, he said.
He also said World Handicraft Day will be held on June 10th with the participation of national and international officials, including President Saad Hani Al-Qaddumi of the World Craft Council and Ambassador. He expressed his hope that the event will be an important step in introducing Yazd abilities.
When two world registrations of the craft world from Yazd and issued more than 5,000 licenses for activities in the craft field, he said that Yazd will host a screening of the mark of excellence in handicrafts in the second half of the current Iranian year.
