TEHRAN – After a temporary closure, the National Jewelry Treasury Ministry of Tehran has welcomed visitors again from Saturday, May 31st (10 Kordads of the Iranian calendar).
The Iran Central Bank building on the corner of Feldousi Street and the museum on Istanbul Crossroads near Imam Khomeini Square, will be open every Saturday to Tuesday and open to the public except for official holidays from 10am to 12pm.
Tickets are reportedly on sale directly until 11:30am on the day of your visit. Admission fees are set at 300,000 Toman for international visitors, 30,000 Toman for Iranian nationals, and 15,000 Toman for students and school children with valid ID cards. (At the time of writing this report, the exchange rate for each US dollar in the open market is about 83,000 Toman.)
The National Jewels Treasury, previously closed for more than four years after the Covid-19 outbreak in March 2019, holds one of the world’s most extraordinary collections of precious gems and historical artifacts. Each item in the collection reflects Iran’s intricate and eventful chapters of history, reflecting stories of victory, defeat, glory and royal grandeur.
Beyond its enormous economic value, this collection is a testament to the refined artistry and craftsmanship of Iranian artisans for centuries. It represents an important part of the country’s cultural and historical heritage.
The museum, run by the Central Bank of Iran, not only displays crown jewels, but also serves as legal guardians.
