TEHRAN – Prominent Iranian academic and political figure Zahra Rahnavard has denounced the recent Israeli military attacks on Iran, accusing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of violating international norms and targeting citizens, infrastructure and scientists.
In a statement reported by the IRNA, Rahnavard emphasized that Netanyahu is famous for killing women and children.
“The hands and aggressive nature of Netanyahu’s criminals, through fundamental violations of all international regulations, have targeted our country with military strikes and bombings, attacking the lives of Iranian infrastructure, scientists, even innocent civilians, as well as men, women and children.”
Ranavad, a retired university professor and wife of former prime minister Mir Hussein Musavi, stressed that the woman was once again a major civilian casualty. “Women have always been the first victims of conflict, this time they have fallen prey to infamous and infamous artillery fires around the world to kill women and children, from Gaza to Iran,” she said.
Her message paid tribute to several women reportedly killed in the attacks, including young poet and translator Parnia Abbasi. Zahra Shamsbakhsh, a graduate of sociology. Visual artist Manslear Alikani and her family members. Ranavad said these women represent only a small portion of the wider victims among innocent civilians.
Former President Khatami has condemned Israel’s strike and confirmed Iran’s right to protect itself.
Additionally, Seyyed Mohammad Khatami, who served as president of Iran from August 2, 1997 to August 3, 2005, strongly condemned Israel’s military strike against the Islamic Republic, calling them terrorist acts, claiming Iran’s rights and the right to promote its citizens.
In a statement issued on the first day of the Israeli attack, Katami expressed sadness to the family and the Iranian state, condemning the attack as a “heinous crime.”
“The terrorist regime, whose recent actions outweigh the cruelty of the worst criminals of history, has once again carried out a deadly terrorist operation. This time, it has respected prominent military commanders and respected scientific and social figures, killing many innocent civilians, including women and children.”
Khatami concluded his message by urging all freedom-loving countries and international organisations, especially the United Nations – to take solid and inclusive actions to condemn Israel’s crimes, particularly the latest attacks on Iran, and urged Israel and its supporters to prevent further atrocities.
