The three men were reported missing by relatives after traveling to Iran earlier this month. The report suggests that the man was sent to Iran by people allegedly involved in human trafficking, the Hindustan Times reported.
Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesman Randil Jaiswal said in a weekly media briefing that efforts to track Indian citizens are ongoing.
“The three Indian citizens landed there after a while are missing. We are in touch with Iranian authorities to find them, for their safety and security, and ultimately return… We have received good cooperation from the Iranian side and we are in touch with our families too,” he said.
Jaiswal said there are other cases of Indian citizens reportedly gone missing in Iran. “Sometimes these things happen. When that happens, we take these issues seriously through the embassy. Our people know that we are being offered and take care of their welfare, their safety and safety,” he said.
The Iranian embassy in New Delhi said in a social media post that the incidents of three Indian citizens have been followed up by the Iranian Consul’s Foreign Ministry in cooperation with relevant judicial authorities.
The Indian Embassy in Tehran has been “informed about litigation within Iran’s judicial system.” “Given the nature of this incident, we strongly encourage Indian citizens not to deceive the promises of unauthorized individuals and illegal Indian institutions offering travel to other countries,” the embassy said.
