Hossein Shahrabi, CEO of the knowledge-based company that built the satellite, told Tasnim that it was designed as a follow-up to the Kowsar and Hodhod satellites, and incorporated a combined mission of both.
He explained that Dual View 1 is designed to serve as Iran’s first integrated remote sensing and communications satellite within the planned constellations.
According to the CEO, the upgraded model will feature additional solar cells and improved communications hardware. From the three communication links used in Kowsar and Hodhod, the most effective one, along with the addition of an S-band link, was integrated into the new satellite, allowing for full ground-based attitude control programming.
Shahrabi said Dual View 1 is scheduled to be released in Iran’s Hazar month (November 22 – Dec 21), and uses the same launcher previously used by Kowsar and Hodhod.
