Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi congratulated Iranian Foreign Minister Seid Abbas Araghchi on his appointment and emphasized the importance of constructive dialogue between the two countries.
In a message posted on his X account, Motegi acknowledged the long-standing friendship between Japan and Iran and said that multi-layered and productive discussions between the two countries are always ongoing.
He further stated that Araghchi is one of the prominent Iranian politicians who deeply understands Japan, adding that he is looking forward to a close dialogue.
Mr. Motegi expressed his determination to further strengthen the historic and friendly relationship between the two countries, which was built by his predecessors. He also emphasized the importance of Iran’s constructive role in maintaining stability and peace in West Asia, noting that Japan intends to continue diplomatic efforts for peace and security in the region.
