National Olympic Committee (NOC) President Mahmoud Khosravi Vafa and Secretary General Mahdi Alinejad met and held talks with International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) President Fabio Azevedo in Lausanne, Switzerland.
During the meeting, they discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between NOC and FIVB and explored opportunities for the development of volleyball in Iran and Central Asia.
Prime Minister Khosravi Vafa noted the dynamic nature of the Iranian Volleyball League and invited Azevedo to attend the Iran Volleyball League finals in person to witness first-hand the energy and passion of the competition.
Mr. Alinejad also emphasized Iran’s important geographical and strategic position in Central Asia, stating, “Iran has the potential to become a central hub for the development of volleyball in the region.FIVB’s support is essential to achieving this goal.”
For his part, Azevedo expressed initial agreement with the idea of establishing a Central Asia Volleyball Development Center in Iran and requested that Iran submit a formal proposal for the initiative.
He also emphasized that FIVB is ready to strengthen joint projects with NOCs.
