In his analysis, Tehran-Donya-e-eqtesad addresses the formation of a new JCPOA arrangement, writing:
It appears that snapback mechanisms and threats will become more practical, technical and important than planned in the coming months. This means that parties will either try to find reliable diplomatic solutions for a new (nuclear) agreement, renew the 2015 JCPOA agreement, or prepare for new risks that involve the attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities by the US and Israel and the possibility of a critical response from Iran. But we must wait and see how Iran will respond to Trump’s letters. The first assumption is that this letter is merely an escalation of pressure in a new form. However, the second hypothesis argues that, as the letter is under review, it provides important details that convey Trump’s message beyond negotiation or threat invitations.
Ham Mihan: Strategies to counter maximum pressure
In the memo, Ham Mihan discussed Iran’s strategy against Trump. The paper raised concerns about growing tensions in the Middle East, reimposed Donald Trump’s repositioning of maximum pressure on Iran and his ultimatum on Iran and the Iranian government. However, the United States faces Iran, which has learned lessons from the first Trump administration, so it is possible to predict Trump’s policies. Iran’s strategy to counter Trump includes first forming a circle of friendly relations with its Middle Eastern neighbors. Secondly, there is a strategic overture and preparation for working with the West. Third, deepen relations between Russia and China. This is help if the previous two strategies fail. Under the “next-first” policy, Iran will establish friendly relations with the Persian Gulf countries and undermine the US’s ability to attack Iran. Russia and China also represent major Iranian partners. Iran collectively faces US efforts to limit US sanctions and their impact. This “axis” therefore seeks to develop economic and military relations independent of US pressures.
Shargh: Peacemaking or Power Showing?
Sharg wrote about the trilateral meeting in Beijing: China is balancing its support for Iran and maintaining ties with Arab countries and Trump. However, Beijing knows that it cannot be a total supporter of one another, as this could harm its economic and political interests. Therefore, by presenting itself as a neutral but powerful mediator, China is simultaneously trying to gain the trust of Tehran and the Arab countries. This approach allows China to strengthen its role as a global piecemaker, but also allows it to use regional rivalries to advance its strategic goals. Ultimately, China’s entry into the mediation process in Tehran-Washington tensions in the Middle East shows significant developments in global diplomacy. Beijing is equipped with a combination of economic benefits and strategic goals, while also trying to prevent regional crises and use upcoming opportunities to strengthen its position as a global competitor. This move will affect not only the future of the Middle East, but also the balance of power in the world.
Etemad: Participation in the FATF is effective in reviving the JCPOA
Etemad discussed the issue of FATF in an interview with political activist Mohammad Ali Vakili. He said: To resolve its underlying economic problems, Iran must prepare the basis for the revival of the JCPOA and improve communication and economic relations with the world. In a situation where Trump has chosen a threat to Iran, joining the FATF may not meet all of Iran’s demands. However, when combined with the revival of the JCPOA, it will go a long way in improving the economic situation. Once the prospect of a revival of the JCPOA is revealed and our diplomatic relations reach a new level, the greatest benefits of Iranian FATF will be realized. In this case, joining the FATF and leaving the blacklist will help Iran. However, in the current situation, participating in the FATF is not very useful to Iran. Iran must first revive the contents of the JCPOA and then look for a solution that can maximize the benefits of the JCPOA. In this case, the FATF is one of the solutions that will help Iran realize its benefits.
