The program, which was jointly combined by the Ministry of Education and the Anti-Tobacco Association, focuses primarily on raising training and awareness among students, parents, educators and communities, Mehr’s news agency reported.
The program will begin at schools next year. It expands to the neighborhood and then to the urban areas. Students who complete the training course will become active cigarette prevention ambassadors for the community.
Other ministries and organizations such as the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Culture, Islamic Guidance, Ministry of Sports, Ministry of Home Affairs and Local Governments are supporting the program.
World No-Tobacco Day will be celebrated on May 31st. In 1987, member states of the World Health Organization created World Cigarette Day to attract global attention to the tobacco epidemic and the preventable deaths and illnesses it causes.
The annual celebration informs the public about the dangers of tobacco use, business practices of tobacco companies, what the World Health Organization (WHO) is doing to combat the tobacco epidemic, and what people around the world can assert the right to health and healthy living and protect future generations.
In 2025, World No Tevaco Day focuses on the theme of “Exposing Lies and Safe Life: Revealing the Attractiveness of Tobacco and Nicotine Products.”
Every day, the tobacco and nicotine industry uses carefully designed products and deceptive tactics to hook new generations of users and maintain existing users.
The tobacco and nicotine industry uses insidious strategies to make their harmful products attractive, especially for young people.
Operable product design, attractive flavours and attractive marketing create a false sense of security and evokes the desired one. You need to break the illusion.
Removing the appeal of these products through stricter regulations is essential to protecting current and future generations from harm.
