TEHRAN – Attorney General Golamassein Moseni Ejay has donated 500 million rials (approximately $555) to free prisoners of unintended crimes.
Also working with her benefactor, Zahra Behrouz-Azar, vice president of women and family affairs, allocated 40 billion rials (approximately $44,000) to release 14 female prisoners.
Every year, during the holy month of Ramadan, officials and benefactors hold gatherings to raise money to free prisoners of unintended crimes.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Revolution, allocated 40 billion rials to help free prisoners from unintended crimes during the Holy Month of Ramadan (started on March 2).
In March 2024, the leader allocated 20 billion rials (approximately $22,000) to release prisoners of unintended crimes.
Over 7,000 prisoners were released in nine months
In the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 20 to December 20, 2024), a total of 7,706 prisoners of unintended crimes have been announced.
Of the total prisoners who were in prison for financial crimes, 7,282 were male and 424 were female, Mehr’s news agency reported.
Tehran, Fars and Isfahan had the highest number of involuntary crime prisoners, which filed 2,570, 1,295 and 1,186 cases respectively.
On the occasion of National Mother’s Day, which fell on December 22 this year, a total of 1,000 female prisoners across the country were announced for unintended crimes.
National Women’s Day (also known as Mother’s Day) coincides with the birth anniversary of Hazrat Fateme, daughter of the Holy Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
More than 600 women are currently in jail for unintended crimes, the IRIB reported.
Over the past 30 years, benefactors have helped over 170,000 prisoners release prisoners of unintended crimes in the country.
A total of 603 unintended crime prisoners were released nationwide on the occasion of National Father’s Day, which fell on January 14th this year.
In Iran, Father’s Day falls on the 13th day of the calendar month of the Rajab month. This is the birthday anniversary of the first Shia Imam, Imam Ali (AS).
The line hosted a national campaign titled “Hello Dad” from December 21st to January 19th, 2024. A third (171) of the released prisoners were from Isfahan, Khorasan Razavi and Fars Provinces.
The total debt of the released prisoners was over 14 trillion rial.
In January there were more than 15,061 unwilling crimes, including 14,301 men and 760 women.

The unwilling crime of free prisoners is carried out in three ways. The first method is to give prisoners a leave, and the second method is to provide many loans to be paid within the prison.
The third way of aid is the release of an unintended prisoner by paying the debt.
The Blood Money organization was founded in 1990. Since then, numerous prisoners of unintended crimes in debt have been released.
